Fawcett Innovations

FrogNet grew out of a long-running systems-engineering project: remove distributed machinery that the application does not actually need.

John W. Fawcett has worked in systems and networked software since the 1970s. FrogNet has been developed for roughly a decade and was used in his own environment before the public work expanded across the Internet.

Lineage

The shared-state programming idea has clear lineage in Linda and tuple-space work. FrogNet's contribution is not claiming to have invented shared memory as a concept; it is the combination of a living network, semantic transport, RAM-like application surface and the evidence gathered by applying that model to very different systems.
