How To Get A Free Trial

If you would like to try the FrogNet Source code for FREE, this is what you need to do:

  • Create an account -- https://fawcettinnovations.com/m/create-account
  • Set up a Linux machine with a base Ubuntu or Debian install
  • Configure your router for Gateway/Access Point/Passive mode (see the Forums)
  • Connect your router to the Etnernet port on your computer
  • If you are using an external antenna or an alternative connection method, connect the hardware
  • Connect the Linux machine to the Internet
  • Clone the repo onto the machine-- https://github.com/EventStreamInc/installer.git OR, run this command:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/EventStreamInc/installer/jeremy/bootstrap.sh | sudo bash

  • Change permissions on the install script -- chmod +x installer.sh
  • Run the installer

You will need to provide:

  • The name of your network domain.  This may be anything you like as long as it doesn't have special characters (JonesHouse, HappyTrails, Dave).  This will be the name of your FrogNet.  Devices will be identified as deviceName.domain (laptop.JonesHouse, barn.HappyTrails, desktop.Dave)
  • An IP address for your network.  This needs to start with the number 10, then have two sets of numbers between 0 and 254, inclusive, and end with a .1.  For example, 10.101.10.1 or 10.100.0.1
  • If you plan to use an alternative upstream connection method (such as Ethernet), you will need to have the hardware installed and know the device name.  An example of an Ethernet upstream connection would be "eth1."

Once you have configured your first FrogNet, you may use that device to install the others, and to begin networking.  To add a second, third, and beyond machine to your FrogNet network, do this:

If you are on a Raspberry Pi, simply clone to SD card and put it in a new machine.  Log into that machine and run /usr/local/bin/setup_lillypad.bash.  Give the new network a different name and IP address, and you're ready to go!  After the machine has rebooted, your network will be ready.  Log into the machine and connect the WiFi to your first FrogNet, and you're up and running!

On any other machine, we recommend that you connect from your new Linux box *through* the first FrogNet to the Internet before running the installer, then run the installer normally.  When the installation has completed and the computer rebooted, you will automatically connect to the first FrogNet, forming the FrogNet Network.
